This is a classic chart pack by Isabelle Mazabraud, taken from an antique sampler, Roses et Volubilis dated 1857. The top tow and alternative third alphabet rows have been stitched in cream on cream and are not showing up very well on the photograph, but please be assured, there is a very pretty curly alphabet there to stitch. Isabelle has included a space above the lower border for a modern personalisation to be included, and what an heirloom sample this would be if stitched complete and passed on to a daughter or grand-daughter - fabulous.
The chart is a clear black symbol chart printed over several A4 pages, with a key given for x16 DMC thread colours. The copy is in french, but all is self-explanatory and the design is easily convertible to your own colour scheme. A4 sheets are folded inside an A5+ pack.
The complete pattern area is 328 sts x 278 sts.
